How to Clean a Bean-to-Cup Machine

Cleaning a bean-to-cup coffee machine

Bean-to-cup machines brew many cups silently — which means they also hide the oil, coffee residue and stale grounds that accumulate inside.

A clean super-automatic brews better, smells better and lasts years longer. Here is the monthly routine that keeps yours healthy.

Daily care

Rinse the milk system after every use if your machine has one (LatteGo and similar parts are dishwasher-safe).

Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds drawer daily and wipe the bean hopper, spouts and brew group visible surfaces.

Weekly care

Run the machine’s cleaning cycle or backflush with a cleaning tablet if supported.

Deep-clean the brew group: many automatics (Philips, De’Longhi, Jura) have removable brew units you can rinse under cool water weekly.

Monthly descaling

Descaling removes scale from the boiler and pipes — do it monthly with the manufacturer’s solution or reliable third-party descaler, following the exact machine procedure.

Use filtered water to slow scale build-up, and never descale with vinegar in a bean-to-cup: residues linger and ruin the brew.
