Our Verdict
The Micra is a genuine La Marzocco — saturated group, dual stainless boilers, commercial parts — scaled to a kitchen counter. It pulls shots indistinguishable from the Linea machines in the world's best cafés and steams milk faster than machines twice its size. The only real argument against it is the price, and even that looks reasonable amortized over the decades it will run.

Pros & Cons
What we love
- True commercial saturated-group temperature stability
- Ferocious, dry steam — 8 seconds to latte milk
- App control of temp, pre-infusion and warm-up schedule
- Serviced with standard La Marzocco commercial parts
What could be better
- The price of a good used car... down payment
- No shot timer on the machine itself
- 10-minute warm-up (app scheduling mitigates)
Performance Testing
Our Scace device measured ±0.5°F shot-to-shot at the group — commercial-spec stability that simply eliminates temperature as a variable. Every defect left in the cup is your prep, which is strangely liberating. Light roasts we'd fought with on lesser machines opened into florals and clear citrus. Steam is the best we've used at home: dry, powerful, and fast enough that milk technique becomes the bottleneck.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Backflush weekly, wipe daily, change the water filter quarterly — and because the boilers are stainless with proper filtration, scale worry largely disappears. Any La Marzocco technician on earth can service it.
Who It's Best For
Committed home baristas who will use it daily for 20 years, latte-art learners who need real steam, and anyone whose alternative is a $5/day café habit — the math works faster than you'd think.
How It Compares
La Marzocco Linea Micra vs Rocket Appartamento
The Rocket delivers 85% of the experience for half the price; the Micra's saturated group and steam close the remaining gap emphatically.
La Marzocco Linea Micra vs Jura Z10
Same money, opposite philosophy: the Jura automates everything, the Micra hands you full manual control.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Micra really the same as café La Marzoccos?
The group design, boiler philosophy and parts are shared with the commercial Linea family; it's scaled down in capacity, not quality.
Micra or Linea Mini?
The Mini (~$6,300) adds a larger brew boiler, pressure gauge and higher drink capacity. For 1–4 drinks a day the Micra gives up nothing that matters.
Do I need to plumb it in?
No — the Micra is tank-only, which is precisely why it fits normal kitchens.
